To My Dear Pawpaw

 Dear Pawpaw

This first Father’s Day without you has been rough. I remember celebrating you for your birthday and this holiday because it’s a few days before each other . I loved when you would come over for a big steak which you always loved. You always gave my dogs too many treats. I remember when you and Mawmaw came over one Father’s Day, you had seen a commercial for Klondike bars. You said oh I love those. Mawmaw said Neil you’ve never had one of those and you said Mary I have too had one. It was so funny to hear that and quite entertaining especially since I can hear you saying that often. You would be wearing dark colored pants and they would be covered in dog hair by the time you left because they were always all over you but you didn’t care even if Mawmaw would say something to you. You were always so quick witted and always something funny to say! I can’t help but always laugh about when one of your neighbors had a little girl get stuck in one of the bedrooms and they couldn’t get it unlocked so Mawmaw asked you to call the fire department. You said well I’ll call them but I’m telling them she’s got a man locked up in the bedroom. I was in the floor laughing so hard because that was not quite the response I was expecting to hear. You were blunt but always so funny in a lot of ways. I sure miss you telling me lots of good Avon stories. You truly were the best grandfather a girl could ever ask for and I wish I could give you a big hug! You were always so easy to celebrate. I could probably write a book about you and I guarantee someone you met at some random place would recognize your picture which of course would be on it because you always knew just about everybody everywhere. I don’t think we ever went anywhere without you not knowing at least a few or more people. I miss you so much! I know my fur babies are celebrating with you and Jesus today.
